Mac Bluetooth Info

Which Mac's have Bluetooth 4.0 built in?

iMac (Late 2012 and newer)
MacBook Air (Mid 2011 and newer)
acBook Pro (Mid 2012 and newer)
Mac mini (Mid 2011 and newer)
Mac Pro (Late 2013 and newer)

Does my Mac have Bluetooth 4.0? (Mavericks and older)

  1. Click the  menu in the left top corner of your screen.
  2. Select 'About This Mac'. 
  3. Click on 'More Info...' 
  4. Click on the System Report... button.
  5. Select Bluetooth from the sidebar on the left, underneath "Hardware."
  6. Scan down the list of information until you find "LMP Version."

If your Mac is equipped with Bluetooth 4.0, LMP Version will say 0x6. Anything lower than that is an older version of Bluetooth.

Does my Mac have Bluetooth 4.0? (Yosemite)

  1. Click the  menu in the left top corner of your screen.
  2. Select 'About This Mac'. 
  3. Click on the System Report... button.
  4. Select Bluetooth from the sidebar on the left, underneath "Hardware."
  5. Scan down the list of information until you find "LMP Version."

If your Mac is equipped with Bluetooth 4.0, LMP Version will say 0x6. Anything lower than that is an older version of Bluetooth.

Finding your Mac's build information.

To find the build number of the version of OS X you have installed, use these steps:

  1. Click the  menu in the left top corner of your screen.
  2. Select 'About This Mac'
  3. Mavericks and older: Click on the 'More Info...' button. The Mac build is shown in figure 1.
